On Jan. 28th 2006 at 18:16 Bay District Stations 9 &3, The Hollywood volunteers from Company 7 and Lexington Park VRS responded for a reported roof fire at the coffee shop in San Souci shopping center. Command 9 (Captain Foster) arrived on scene and reported light smoke in the building. E-92 (Sergeant Warren) took it's own hydrant and took a 1 3/4" line to the front door. E-33 (FF Fuhrman) took a secondary water supply and in laid dual lines. T-9 (FF Fahey) went to the front of the building and laddered side "A". E-91 (FF Petterson) reported to side "A" to assist. The Engine and Truck (Chief 7A and Captain 7) from 7 took the rear, laddered side "C" and provided positive pressure ventilation. Interior crews reported a coffee bean roaster had caught fire and the fire was contained to the roasting unit. Checks for extension from the roof crews and the interior crews were all negative. The Coffee beans in the roaster were a total loss. No smoke or fire damage to the structure. A special thanks to Hammer and the Maryland State Police for traffic and crowd control on this one!
