| Emergency personnel responded Friday morning to a serious two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Willows Road and Point Lookout Road in Park Hall, resulting in one fatality and one individual transported for medical care.
At approximately 8:52 a.m., 911 Communications received multiple reports of a traffic collision involving a passenger car and a truck towing a trailer with equipment. Initial reports indicated that one vehicle remained in the roadway while the other had left the roadway and come to rest in a wooded area.
Upon arrival, first responders confirmed heavy entrapment involving one patient. Firefighters immediately established command and began coordinated rescue operations to stabilize the vehicles and safely access the trapped occupant. Due to the severity of the crash, additional resources, including advanced life support units, were responding to the scene.
One patient was found unconscious and not breathing at the time of assessment. Despite the immediate and extensive lifesaving efforts of fire and EMS personnel, the patient succumbed to their injuries at the scene. A second patient was evaluated, treated, and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family affected by this tragic incident and remain proud of the teamwork displayed by all responding units.
The collision temporarily blocked traffic in both directions while crews worked. Law enforcement and state highway officials assisted with traffic control and the ongoing investigation. The roadway was reopened after the accident investigation was completed.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the appropriate authorities.
The department reminds motorists to remain alert at intersections and when entering roadways, particularly when towing trailers or operating large vehicles. Always wear your seatbelt, avoid distractions, and reduce speed in areas with limited visibility. |
