By Bay District Volunteers
December 29, 2025

In the early hours of Monday, December 29, 2025, emergency responders were called to the Royal Farms in the 21700 block of Tulagi Place following reports of a violent incident that escalated into a critical pedestrian hit-and-run.

At approximately 1:00 a.m., law enforcement officers arrived at the convenience store to investigate a reported assault. Emergency medical services were initially instructed to stage nearby until the scene was secured. Once cleared, EMS units were informed of a male victim inside the store suffering from a laceration to the hand.

Moments later, additional emergency crews from Bay District Volunteer Fire Department Station 3 and EMS were dispatched to the rear of the same location for a separate report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, first responders located a patient lying in the street behind the store with severe injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. BDVFD personnel provided immediate assistance with patient care and used apparatus to block and secure the area for safety.

Due to the critical nature of the patient’s injuries, a medical helicopter was requested for rapid transport. However, the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS) Systems Communications Center (SYSCOM) denied the flight because of unfavorable weather and wind conditions.

The patient was transported by ground to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital with serious injuries. The male victim inside the store was also taken to a local hospital; the extent of his injuries remains unknown at this time.

The circumstances surrounding both the assault and the hit-and-run are currently under investigation by local authorities.

The Bay District Volunteer Fire Department commends the swift coordination of all responding personnel under challenging conditions.

Fire Safety Reminder: In the winter months, reduced visibility and weather conditions can make roads especially dangerous. Always remain alert when walking near traffic, and drivers are urged to reduce speed in commercial areas, especially during overnight hours.
