Working Kitchen Fire in Spring Ridge

On Monday December 23, 2013 at 2:07am Stations 3,4,9,6 & 5 were alerted for a working house fire. Engine 32 responded with a Lieutenant and 4 personnel along with Chief 3A. Dispatched advised it to be a working fire and Engine 32 requested an extra engine and squad for RIT to be added and this brought Stations 13 & 7. Engine 93 and Tower 9 responded with a total of 9 firefighters. Chief 3A arrived on scene and advised a two story single family with no fire showing on sides A & B. Engine 32 layed a 3 inch supply line from Leachburg Road and Carter Lane. Once Engine 32 arrived on scene the crew deployed a 1 3/4 inch attack line and found a small fire in the kitchen of the residence. The fire was placed under control at 02:17 am. Engine 32 secured power to the kitchen and completed the primary search with negative results. Chief 3A went ahead and held the scene with Engine 32, Engine 93, & Tower 9. Engine 93 preformed a secondary search with negative results and Tower 9 started to perform ventilation on the house. After ventilation was complete units were able to pack up and cleared the scene at 03:03am. While the units from 3 & 9 were en route to quarters dispatched advised them to start to Valley Lee for another house fire.
