Vehicle Collision with One Airlifted to Trauma Center

By Bay District Volunteers
January 14, 2026

At approximately 6:50 a.m. on January 14, Bay District Volunteer Fire Department’s Station 9 and surrounding EMS units were dispatched to the intersection of Chancellors Run Road and FDR Boulevard for a motor vehicle accident involving an unresponsive individual.

Rescue Engine 92 arrived on scene to find a two-vehicle, rear-end style collision with no entrapment. Fire and EMS crews quickly secured the area and began patient assessments.

Ambulance 388 evaluated all individuals involved and determined that one patient required rapid transport to a trauma center. Due to the severity of the injuries, Maryland State Police Aviation Command’s Trooper 7 was requested. Rather than landing at the scene, Trooper 7 remained at its hangar while Paramedic Ambulance 397 transported the patient there for transfer and subsequent airlift to an area trauma facility.

All other vehicle occupants declined medical treatment and signed patient care refusals.

Rescue Engine 92 provided barrier protection to ensure the safety of emergency crews operating near traffic. Once EMS units cleared the scene, the incident was turned over to local law enforcement for traffic control and investigation.

Bay District VFD commends the teamwork and professionalism of all responding units and reminds drivers to stay alert, especially during early morning commutes when visibility and reaction time may be reduced.

Safety Tip: Always wear your seatbelt and leave extra space between vehicles—rear-end collisions are preventable with proper following distance.
