By Bay District Volunteers
December 26, 2025

On Thursday, December 25, 2025, at approximately 10:21 p.m., Bay District Volunteer Fire Department Station 9 was dispatched to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a rollover and entrapment near the intersection of Three Notch Road and Airport Road in California.

Firefighters from Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department were first to arrive and found a Mazda SUV overturned off the roadway with two occupants trapped inside. A second vehicle, a Chrysler sedan, was located more than a quarter mile away near Wildewood Parkway. Its driver had exited the vehicle and was in need of medical attention.

Personnel from Bay District VFD Station 9 arrived shortly after and joined Hollywood VFD in a coordinated effort to stabilize the overturned vehicle and free the trapped occupants. Working efficiently together, crews completed the extrication in under 15 minutes from the time of dispatch.

One of the SUV occupants declined medical transport after being evaluated at the scene. The second was transported by ambulance to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center. The driver of the Chrysler sedan was flown by Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 7 to the same facility for advanced care.

Bay District Volunteer Fire Department commends the teamwork displayed by all responding agencies during this holiday night response and thanks the community for its continued support.

As a reminder: always wear your seatbelt, stay alert behind the wheel, and never drive distracted. Follow Bay District VFD on social media for safety tips and department updates.
