By Bay District Volunteers
August 4, 2022

On Thursday, August 4 at 10:12 am units from Bay District, NDWFD, Hollywood VFD and Lexington Park VRS were alerted for an apartment fire at 22025 Valley Estates Drive in Lexington Park. St. Mary’s County Communications Center were receiving multiple calls indicating it was a working fire. While responding Safety Officer 9 (J. Adams) requested a working fire task force be added due to the heat and humidity present. Engine 132 (NDWFD) arrived and reported a working fire with smoke showing. Chief 9B (S. Vallandingham) arrived and established the command. Units on scene extinguished the fire and checked for extension to the other attached townhomes. Units remained on scene for over two hours completing overhaul and restoring equipment. EMS units on scene were used for firefighter rehabilitation to provide air conditioning after firefighters completed tasks and were monitored for heat stress.
