Small Fire in the Wildewood 9-02 Box
By Bay District Volunteers
August 18, 2017
On 08/18 at 21:19 Communications alerted Companies 9,7,3,13 and 6 to the area of Surrey Way for the reported apartment struck by lightning and on fire.
At 21:22 Engine 32 (Sgt Woodburn) arrived on scene finding a 3 story apartment building with smoke showing. Units deployed a 1.75 handline into the structure. Truck 3 arrived on scene and conducted First Due Truck responsibilities. Engine 73 arrived on scene and deployed a second line into the structure. Once units made entry into the building it was determined there was no fire in the attic or apartments and all fire was on the exterior roof line. A handline was extended with a stand-pipe rack and ran up the ladder to extinguish all visible fire. Units operated on scene for little over an hour before returning to quarters.
Engine 32 held the attack group supervisor while Fire Chief 7 held command.
