| On 4/17/2007 at 0920 hours the Volunteers from Bay District and Hollywood were alerted to Esperanza Middle School at 22790 Maple Road for the reported odor of electrical in a building. Engine 92, Engine 32, Engine 73, Tower 9 and Squad 7 all responded within a minute of dispatch with all units fully staffed. At 0922 hours Engine 92 arrived on the scene and advised of a 2 story building with nothing evident and that they would have their own hydrant on Side "A". Chief 3B arrived next and established the Esperanza School Command. After a complete walk around of the building command advised to have the next engine take a secondary water source and to have the first special service report to side "A". Engine 92's officer (George) advised that they were on the roof looking at the HVAC units and that all the students were accounted for. Chief 9B arrived and assumed operations. Engine 73 arrived and was placed in Level II Staging. Tower 9 and Squad 7's crews helped out with the interior operations along with setting up ventilation for two rooms that had a strong odor in them. At 1012 hours command advised fire communications that there were major electrical problems in the school and that power would be shut down and to advise Smeco to respond. After everything was safe and secure then the students returned inside to the gym to wait for the buses to arrive and take them home. At 1027 hours Command was terminated and all units went in-service shortly after that. Chief 3B(Gould) held the Command and Chief 9B(Jones) held operations.
