By Bay District Volunteers
February 23, 2024

On Friday, February 23, 2024, at approximately 12:43 p.m., firefighters from Bay District, NAS Patuxent River, and Ridge swiftly responded to a reported commercial vehicle fire in the vicinity of Spyglass Way and Driftwood Court in Lexington Park.

Upon arrival at the scene, crews from Bay District discovered a large pile of trash ablaze in the parking lot, while the truck itself remained unaffected by the fire. The vehicle's operator, noticing fire emanating from the back of the truck, prudently off-loaded all trash onto the parking lot to prevent the situation from escalating.

Firefighters diligently worked for over 30 minutes to contain and extinguish the blaze, ensuring the safety of the surrounding area. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.

In response to the situation, a replacement truck and cleanup crew were dispatched to the area to remove all debris and trash, ensuring the swift restoration of normalcy.

The Bay District Volunteer Fire Department commends the quick response and coordinated efforts of all units involved in managing the incident and extends its gratitude to the community for their cooperation and support.
