By Bay District Volunteers
October 29, 2023

On Friday, October 27, 2023, at 7:57 p.m., emergency response units from Bay District Station 9 and surrounding EMS companies rushed to the area of Three Notch Road and Airport Road in California, following a report of a devastating vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

The St. Mary’s County Emergency Communications Center (ECC) swiftly alerted the responding units that an off-duty St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Deputy was already on the scene and had sadly confirmed that the single patient involved in the incident had passed away.

Despite this tragic confirmation, all emergency units continued their mission to the scene, where they conducted an assessment to officially confirm the pedestrian's unfortunate demise. These units remained on site for a short period, assisting with lighting and traffic control, while the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office initiated their investigation into the incident.

The members of Bay District Station 9 and the entire community wish to extend our deepest condolences to the grieving family of the victim. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this extremely difficult and trying time.
