By Bay District Volunteers
January 16, 2021

On Saturday, January 16, 2021, at approximately 1:07 p.m., while units were operating on a reported building fire in California St. Mary’s County ECC (Emergency Communications Center) inquired to command (Chief 3B – Bussler) if he could release any units from the building fire for an auto accident in California. Command released E32 (BDVFD) and E73 (HVFD) to respond.

Units responded to the area of Three Notch Road South of Rue Purchase Road for the auto accident with injuries.

Crews arrived on the scene to find five vehicles involved with one patient trapped. Crews worked to extricate one patient in under 10 minutes.

Two patients were transported to Maryland State Police Aviation Command Helicopter Hangar, where MSP Helicopter Trooper 7 transported both victims to an area trauma center.

Three patients refused care on the scene, and one patient was transported to an area hospital.
