On May 18th, 2017 members from Bay District VFD and Company 9, welcomed their newest addition to the fleet as the New Tower-9 went into service. Within 12 hours on May 19th, Tower-9 would be dispatched for a mutual aide fire at NAS Patuxent River as its first big run. With all the training and requirements put on this tower it only took a few short months along with a little down time for some maintenance issues at Atlantic (the local Pierce facility), members quickly got a walk around held classes and checked out 15 drivers in a very short span to help get the truck in service. Members using the apparatus quickly realized the benefits of this truck in a faster setup, quicker moving and large capacity for both weight and water flow, and for the most part from what I have heard really like the new apparatus. We hope that this truck continues to benefit our local area and our residents for many years to come. Please accept my apologies for not getting the story out sooner, as I was out for most of the month of May due to the birth of my daughter. Here are some of the features on the new Tower-9:

Also, please feel free if you're in Ocean City this week to look at the new Tower as it will be on display for Atlantic at the convention center for Firemans Week and will also be appearing in the parade.
