| On Sunday April 18, 2004, Firefighter Nick Potts was involved in a serious accident in the Brandywine area on his motorcycle. He was flown to Washington Hospital Center from P.G. Shock Trauma in serious but stable condition. Due to numerous broken bones, he has a long recovery time ahead of him. The Officers and Members of Bay District ask that you include him in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy and pain-free recovery. Nick, get well soon. We miss you Buddy!
By Deputy Fire Chief Wayne Johnson On Friday April 23, Firefighter Nick Potts came home for a short rest. Still in much pain, his spirits were good. On Wednesday April 28, Nick returned to Washington Hospital Center for surgery on his wrist and ankle. Surgery went well, but Nick won't be able to have any weight on his leg for a minimum of six weeks. The good Doctor's at WHC felt it was best not to operate on his broken collar bone and let it heal on its own. At the writing of this update, Nick is being transported back to his home in St. Mary's for the second time in a week by Company 39's ambulance. Our thanks to the Officers & Staff of Company 39 for the use of there equipment. Also, special thanks to the guys who crewed the ambulance and they are as follows: Tod Jackson, Gerard Campbell, David Carroll, Nick Stamnos, and Kyle Adams. Without their help, it would have been some rough trips home. Nick: Heal fast, no fires for at least six weeks, and we'll be by to see ya soon! |
