On Sunday January 22, 2006 @ 13:26 hours, Bay District Volunteers were dispatched for a reported house fire at 23860 North Patuxent Beach Rd. Within 2 minutes, Engine 91, Truck-9, Engine 92, Engine 31, Command 3, and Command 9 responded with 17 volunteers. While units were en route to the scene, Communications upgraded the assignment to the Working Fire Dispatch. At 13:30 hours, Fire Chief 3 (Wayne Johnson) arrived on side B with a single family dwelling with heavy fire showing. Shortly thereafter, Engine 91 under the direction of Jeff Frye laid out the 3" line from North Patuxent Beach Road where Engine 92 under the direction of Chief 9B (Marvin Jones) picked it up. The crew from Engine 91 advanced a 1 3/4" line to the front door at Side A/B where an aggressive interior attack was started toward the right side of the structure. Engine 92's crew placed in service an 1 3/4" backup line and advanced the line into A/B corner and worked an aggressive interior attack toward the left side of the structure while the Truck crew under the direction of Todd Jackson met up with Sergeant Lauren Buhl and performed Primary/Secondary Searches along with some of the crew from Engine 73. Engine 73 also contained the fire on side C due to nearby gas tanks adjacent to the rear of the structure. The roof Sector under the direction of Co-7 FF Robbie Albert placed a good knock on the fire in the upstairs cock loft area and provided several roof cuts due to the re-modeled construction which hampered extinguishment efforts from the first level interior. Personnel on the scene performed an excellent stop on the fire and the cause of the Fire is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshall's office. Units cleared at approximately 17:15 hours.
