| At approximately 4:32 a.m. on March 27, 2026, personnel from Bay District Volunteer Fire Department Station 3, along with surrounding EMS units, were dispatched to the intersection of Great Mills Road and South Shangri-La Drive for a reported motor vehicle collision. While units were en route, additional information indicated that one of the involved vehicles had struck a commercial building, prompting the incident to be upgraded to a motor vehicle collision involving a structure and bringing additional resources to the scene. Upon arrival, Squad 3 reported a two-vehicle accident with one vehicle having entered the Pho Delight restaurant. Command was established, and crews began assessing both the patients and the integrity of the structure. Following a thorough evaluation, it was determined that the building sustained minor damage. As a result, the incident was scaled back, with Squad 3 and EMS units remaining on scene to handle patient care and scene stabilization. Two patients were evaluated and transported to MedStar St. Mary's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A county building inspector was requested to respond and assess the extent of damage to the structure. This incident highlights the importance of coordinated response efforts between fire, EMS, and local agencies to ensure both public safety and proper evaluation of affected buildings. Safety Reminder: Always remain alert while driving, especially in the early morning hours, and be mindful of intersections where visibility and reaction time can be reduced. |
