By Bay District Volunteers
February 7, 2026

At approximately 9:32 a.m. this morning, Station 9 and surrounding EMS companies were alerted to a motor vehicle accident on Wildewood Parkway near Hickory Nut Drive, where a tree had fallen onto a moving vehicle during high wind conditions.

Engine Tanker 94 from Station 9 responded promptly, and nearby units including Squad 7 and Chief 7B (Insley) from the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) arrived to assist.

Upon arrival, first responders found a single vehicle in the roadway that had been struck by a large tree. The incident was directly attributed to extreme wind gusts impacting the region this morning. The vehicle’s lone occupant was not trapped and was promptly assessed by EMS personnel on scene.

Due to the seriousness of the patient's injuries, the crew from Trooper 7 of the Maryland State Police Aviation Command (MSPAC) responded by ground to provide additional medical support. The patient was transported to a nearby trauma center for further treatment.

As fire crews were clearing the scene and packing up equipment, they were dispatched to a structure fire in the California area, underscoring the demanding conditions faced by local emergency services during today’s weather challenges.

Safety Reminder: High winds can cause trees and limbs to fall unexpectedly. Avoid parking or traveling near large trees during wind advisories, and report downed trees or power lines to local authorities.
