On Monday, March 11, 2024, at 10:39 a.m., Bay District Station 3 and surrounding EMS resources responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Great Mills Road and North Shangri-La Drive in Lexington Park.

Upon arrival, they discovered a victim lying in the roadway, having been struck by a vehicle. Despite the severity of the incident, the victim remained conscious, alert, and breathing, albeit experiencing severe pain.

In light of the victim's condition, a helicopter was urgently requested to land nearby to facilitate rapid transportation to a trauma center.
