Lexington Park, MD - December 30, 2023 - In the early hours of Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 4:54 a.m., emergency responders from Bay District stations 3 & 9, NAS Patuxent River, Ridge, Hollywood, and Second District swiftly mobilized to address a significant house fire on Far Cry Farm Lane in Lexington Park.

The alarm was initially raised when dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting heavy smoke and activated smoke detectors within the residence. A subsequent caller confirmed that all occupants and pets had successfully evacuated the premises, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

Upon arrival, fire crews were confronted with a two-story residence engulfed in flames emanating from the first floor, with extension into the second floor, attic, and roof. The absence of nearby hydrants prompted the activation of a working fire dispatch and Tanker Task Force, bringing in additional support from Leonardtown, Mechanicsville, Hollywood, Solomons, and Seventh District.

Despite the challenging circumstances, firefighters worked diligently to control the blaze, successfully extinguishing the flames in approximately one hour. The collaborative efforts of the responding units ensured that the fire did not spread further and contained the situation effectively.

Remarkably, all occupants and pets managed to escape unharmed, and no injuries were reported among the responding firefighting teams.
