At 3:35 pm units from Bay District were dispatched to the area of Point Lookout Road & Goddard Road for a motor vehicle accident with subjects trapped. Chief 4B (Cooper) arrived on scene in moments and established the Great Mills Command. Rescue Engine 92 & Squad 3 responded, units arrived on scene to find a two-vehicle collision with one vehicle on its side (subjects were trapped in this vehicle), Chief 3B (King) assumed the command upon his arrival. Crews worked to stabilize the vehicle and perform a roof flap (cut one side and lower the roof to the ground to provide access to the patients) and both patients were extricated in less than 15 minutes. Once the patients were removed, they were evaluated by waiting EMS crews. It was determined that one patient would require a medevac to a trauma center for their injuries. E91 provided a landing zone in the parking lot of the ball field at the former Brass Rail. An additional patient was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
