On December 31, 2020 at 6:06 pm Bay District Stations 9 & 3 along with surrounding departments were alerted to assist the Saint Marys County Sheriff's Office with a search party at the Walmart on Mirimar Way in California. Responding units staged at the Laurel Glen Shopping center and a unified command was formed with the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office. Captain 3 (Hendrickson) established the command with a Deputy from the Sheriff's Office and started to develop a plan for a land and air-based search. The search was being conducted for a missing adult male with medical disabilities. Additional resources were requested bringing the Maryland State Police Trooper 7, Hollywood VFD, Hollywood VRS, Leonardtown VFD, Pax River NDWFD, and the Calvert County Sheriff's Office. As units were searching through the surrounding neighborhoods and businesses, MSP Trooper 7 was performing an aerial search of the surrounding area. Units searched for over an hour and a half when the subject was located several miles away in the parking lot of the Extended Stay of America. EMS units were requested to check the subject out and he was found to be safe without injuries.
