Drowning in Lexington Park

At 7:25 pm your Volunteers from Bay District were alerted to the area of Quatman Road in Lexington Park for a water rescue. As units began to respond the ECC (Emergency Communications Center) began to give additional details, a swimmer was in a pond off of Quatman Road and has not been seen in 30 minutes. Chief 3A (D. Burroughs) was responding and requested additional resources, bringing Raft 5 for the sonar capabilities, Calvert County Dive Team and MSP Aviation Trooper 7. Responding units located the caller and found the spot the swimmer was last seen. Rafts were deployed to locate the swimmer and the dive team began to assemble their divers and make access into the water. At 8:47 pm the divers from Calvert County Dive Team located the subject in the water which has succumbed to drowning.


Units restored their equipment and returned to service. Ambulance 399 remained on scene to assist the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
