Working Building Fire in Leonardtown

On Monday, July 1 at 1:24 pm Station 9 and surrounding companies were dispatched for a working building fire, behind Leonardtown VFD firehouse. At 1:28 pm Safety 9 (J Adams) arrived on scene and reported a commercial building, approximately 40’ X 60’ well involved in fire, moments after arrival the building collapsed. Engine 11 arrived on scene and placed their deck gun and a 2 ½” handline in service. Upon arrival Engine 92 assumed a water supply position suppling Engine 10 and the crew assumed the duties of RIT (Rapid Intervention Team). Trucks 1 & 7 provided elevated master streams which was successful in extinguishing the fire. Units remained on the scene for almost three hours extinguishing and performing overhaul of the structure.
