January 28, 2019

At 10:19 pm Company 9 was alerted to provide mutual aid for Calvert County for the report of a structure fire. Tower 9 immediately marked up with a staffing of 5 firefighters and responded. While responding Calvert dispatch advised that the incident was upgraded to a working house fire. St. Leonard Volunteer Fire department arrived on scene as the first due engine and first special service with their rescue squad. Engine 7 reported smoke and flames visible on side Alpha coming from the garage of the residence. Attack lines were deployed to the garage and side Charlie. Other Calvert County units were also arriving to the scene and were assisted with the garage. During the primary search crews were able to rescue a dog from the residence that was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation. Tower 9 arrived shortly after and reported to command and were placed in the residence to assist with ventilation operations. Units were able to get the fire knocked shortly after with little extension into the basement. Tower 9's crew was able to clear most of the smoke out of the residence before being placed back into service.
