Morning House Fire in Great Mills

At 11:05 your Bay District Volunteers along with surrounding departments were alerted for a garage fire at 22230 Valleyview Drive in Great Mills. At 11:11 Deputy Fire Chief 3 (B. Ticson) arrived on scene and reported smoke showing from the structure. E91(DFC K. Adams) & E32 arrived and started an attack on the fire. The crews rescued approximately 12 dogs from the house, along with 3 adult dogs that were in the backyard at the time of the incident. EMS crews and multiple good Samaritans provided oxygen and administered CPR on multiple dogs. Regretfully three dogs died on the scene and one cat having severe burns and injuries. St. Mary’s County Animal Control was requested to the scene to assist. There we no injuries to firefighters or the residents of the house.

Units remained on the scene until 12:37 performing overhaul of the fire area and restoring equipment.
