Working Building Fire in Valley Lee

At 2:41 pm Bay District Stations 3 & 9 and surrounding departments were alerted to a workshop fire at 44500 Hawk Nest Farm Lane in Valley Lee. Engines 34, 91, Squad 3 and Tower 9 responded fully staffed. Chief 9B, Safety Officers 3 & 3B also responded to assist with the fireground, Car 3 and Utility 9 responded with rehab for the firefighters.
Engine 63 arrived on scene at 2:52 pm to find a one-story commercial building heavily involved in fire and initiated an attack on the fire. Engine 34 arrived shortly after and provided initial water supply and their crew assisted with fire attack, Engine 91 was arrived and started drafting operations at a nearby pond, supplying an uninterrupted water supply for the attack crews. Squad 3 assisted with the fire attack while Tower 9 was setting up for master stream operations in case the it was needed. All crews assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. During the incident it was necessary to evacuate the crews due to a hole in the floor, which was later found to be a “Pit” used for mechanical repairs on vehicles/equipment. One firefighter fell into the pit and did not suffer any injuries.
Units remained on scene assisting with overhaul until 5:00 pm.
