Friday Night Fire in Leonardtown

By Bay District Volunteers

Shortly after 9pm surrounding companies were alerted for the working house fire off Medleys Neck Road.

Engines 91 which was already on the air in Co. 3’s area quickly headed to the call and Engine 32 responded moments after dispatch. Tower 9 and Tanker 3 responded shortly after drivers arrived to the stations, fully staffed. A total of 18 volunteers responded to the call.

Due to Leonardtown handling a vehicle fire in town this allowed Engine 91 to arrive first laying a 3in supply line and the crew then pulled an attack line through the front door. Chief 1 arrived and established command having Engine 32 lay a 4in supply line as well as its crew also pulled a second attack line. Chief 7 arrived and handled operations for command.

Tankers arrived and supplied the 2 engines as Tower 9 arrived and was staged on side A. The towers crew put up a ground ladder for the uncompromised roof section and vented some windows on side Charlie. The Towers crew ended up assisting some more on side Charlie until lightning request finally reached the driver.

Crews remained on scene assisting with overhaul, helping the fire marshall, and restoring our units until after midnight.
