Lightning Strike in California

At 7:46 pm units from Stations 9, 7, 3, 13 and EMS Station 38 & 79 were alerted to 22983 Cypress Drive in Wildewood for a house struck by lightning. Engine 91 and Tower 9 responded with 8 volunteers along with Chief 3A (Burroughs) and Chief 9B (Adams). Chief 3A arrived on scene with fire showing from the rear of the house and established the Wildewood command. Engine 73 arrived and was assigned the attack group and initiated the extinguishment. Engine 91 arrived and completed Engine 73’s water supply while Tower 9 assumed the search and ventilation. Crews found a fire in the attic resulting from a lightning strike to the roof.

Red Cross was called to assist the residents with lodging.

Crews worked for approximately 90 minutes before returning to quarters.
