On behalf of the volunteers of my department I would like to thank you for your support. On Tuesday, November 14 the Board of Commissioners for St. Mary's County voted to divide the departments of Information Technology and Emergency Services into separate entities. This is a significant step in support of the volunteers who are on the ground providing services to protect lives and property in our community.

Your voices were heard when you expressed concern about the challenges our volunteers have been facing. Please take a few moments and thank the Commissioners for keeping your best interests in mind as they chose the path forward. They have reached out to the volunteer community to discuss further improving the system we use to serve you in your time of need.

The volunteer professionals that provide emergency services in St. Mary's County work hard to keep our friends and neighbors safe and to help when things go wrong. We are proud to serve you and will continue to do so with the dedication we have always shown. Thank you again for your solidarity and support.
