Door Pop in 9's Area
By Bay District Volunteers
July 18, 2017
Just before 7pm after the evening rush hour units were dispatched for a motor vehicle accident at Three Notch Road and Oak Crest Drive. Engine 91 responded upon dispatch along with EMS units. Captain 9 responded also and was first to arrive on the scene advising two vehicles. One vehicle had a single occupant and the other vehicle had three occupants to be transported and the driver’s door needed to be removed for easier access to the patient.
The crew from Engine 91 worked to remove the door after stabilizing and securing the vehicle. Once EMS arrived and evaluated the patients it was determined that the single occupant of the vehicle was going to be flown out and a helicopter was requested with them transporting the patient to the hangar at the county airport. Squad 7 arrived and assisted with stabilization of the other vehicle and fluid cleanup. Patients were packaged up and transported to St. Mary’s hospital Priority 2 and the helicopter transported the other patient to Medstar Washington Hospital Center.
