By Bay District Volunteers
December 15, 2016

At approximately 0930 Stations 3, 9 and surrounding departments were alerted for a working apartment fire on Marshall Blvd in Lexington Park.

Engine 32 was first arriving finding a 3-Story end-of-the-row apartment building with fire and smoke showing from the rear of the building and requested a 2nd Alarm to be started. Engine 32 laid out and deployed the 250 foot of 1.75" attack line off the rear of Engine and began an attack of the fire on the 2nd floor. Shortly after, NDW Engine 132 arrived and picked up 32's layout (Water supply), deployed a crosslay off Engine 32 and assisted with the fire attack. Both crews then progressed up to the 3rd floor and extinguished the fire in that apartment. Tower 9 and Truck 7 then arrived and set-up for ventilation while their crews entered the structure with hooks and started opening up the ceiling to check for extension.

The fire has been ruled arson by the Maryland State Fire Marshall and anyone who has any information regarding the incident is asked to contact the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Southern Region at 443-550-6820 or the Anonymous Arson Hotline at 1-800-492-7529.

Red Cross is assisting all the occupants.
