Christmas Just Around The Corner

You know that Christmas is coming when the volunteers of Bay District put up their beautiful tree in the front of Station 3 for the whole community to see. Under the direction of Assistant Fire Chief Burroughs it didn't take too long and at least it wasn't snowing or raining as it has been in the past. After the tree, it was time to set up the engine bays for the Winter Wonderland that was to be held that night to also light the tree with the arrival of Santa Claus.

As the time drew near you could see the excitement in the eyes of all the little kids and grownups alike. We had all kinds of attractions to keep everyone entertained until the arrival of the big guy. There were fire truck rides, moon bounces, face painting and a magic show with the world famous Reggie. Around 6:00 p.m. off in the distance you could hear a siren and everyone rushed to the front of the building to see what was up. Well, he didn't have his reindeer and sleigh but the next best thing was Truck 3 with Santa as the tillerman. The kids went wild and Santa got off the truck and went over to the tree to throw the switch. It was beautiful so then he went into the station to sit on his throne and welcome all the boys and girls. Pictures were taken by our John Douglas (Smug Mug) for all the parents. It was a long line but we got through it and then it was time for Reggie to put on his show. Before you knew it was time to say goodnight and the volunteers had another job to do and that was clean up the bays to return the trucks to their beds to await the next call.
