The gate swings both ways

On October 29 and the 30th it was time for Bay District to return a favor for our brothers and sisters from Company 13 (NDWFD) during their week-end of Air Expo. You can image with the thousands of people that attend the two day show the emergency services are stretched to the limit and the Fire Chief on board the station asked for mutual aid from the surrounding companies and both Bay District and Hollywood VFD stepped up to the plate. There was also Seventh District(Co.5) and Ridge (Co 4) providing their boats to stand-by in the bay to assist in the event that something happened during the show. Now I can't tell you if they were trolling for rock fish while out there but I did see them going up and back all the time. lol I'm just kidding guys I know that you were being very vigilant while you were out there and besides you all missed out on the bag lunches that we enjoyed on shore.

Now on both days that we were all there I can report that nothing went on except a mutual aid call to Calvert County which we were returned on and then returned back to the base to enjoy the show. Heck we had a ringside seat right in front of the crash barn or number 1 station as they call it. It was a long two days but by splitting up the time with Hollywood one shift and us the other it was not to bad and before you knew it was time to return to our station.

Being an old fire buff I really enjoyed being given a tour by my favorite fishing buddy Battalion Chief Glen Yannayon around the station and to see the Hugh crash trucks that protect the airfield and the modern equipment that protects the rest of the base in addition to responding to the county when dispatched. Now you know that I had to take some pictures and have them attached for your viewing pleasure. Look forward to being invited again next year and maybe they will have the Blue Angles this time.
