In the late hours of May 14th at 1036 hours, a vehicle accident with reportedly one trapped in the area of Aster Dr. and Point Lookout Rd. in Valley Lee was dispatched. SQ-3 (Sgt. Vanness) responded within seconds of the dispatch. After arriving on scene SQ-3 setup Command, relaying information to C-6 (Scrivener). Initial reports were that no one was trapped however, it was determined that a single passenger was indeed entrapped which required heavy extrication. SQ-6 (Formerly RE-62), E-61 and C-6 arrived on scene within minutes, with C-6 assuming the Command. SQ-3's Officer was established as the Extrication Group and proceeded to start extrication of the patient via the driver's side while, SQ-6 worked the passenger side in tandem. Due to complications with the vehicle and patient location extrication was extended however, Trooper 7 and E-32 were dispatched to cover the fly-out located near the scene. Trooper 7 then diverted to the scene and E-32 responded to the scene to provide additional manpower should the need arise. Once extrication was complete, the patient was then carried to Trooper 7 which transported to a local Shock/Trauma Hospital. SQ-3 and SQ-6 remained on scene for clean up and reconstruction with the Sherriff's Office and MSP, all other units were returned to service and Command was terminated. This turned out to be the 19th call in a 28 hour period, all-in-all a busy day for the Volunteers at Bay District. A big thanks to Brian Brown for sending us the photos.
