On May 11th at 1848 hours while conducting our normally scheduled drill night, members of the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched for a report of a townhouse fire in Co. 9's First Due area. Units from Co. 9, Co. 3, Co. 7 (Hollywood) and Co. 13 (NAS Pax River) responded. Upon arrival of one of the EMS Units, they advised that smoke was showing. E-32 (Sgt. Vanness) arrived on scene and proceeded to take their own hydrant, pulling a handline to the front door and attempting to locate the fire. The size up indicated a fire in the "End of the Row" townhouse. E-132 (Capt. Watts) arrived 2nd laying out from a hydrant to provide additional water coverage. Tower-9 (Sgt. Ammann) and Truck-3 (FF Werkheiser) took their respective locations on the A/B and C/D Corners with E-91 (Sgt. Young) covering the rear of the structure with a hydrant. Finally SQ-3 took up RIT, Command was held initially by Chief-9B and then passed to Chief-3A. Command staged all incoming units to Longfields Blvd. Eventually the fire was located to a burnt light ballast in a Aquarium Tank and located to that immediate area. Command held E-32, E-91, E-132, T-3 and TWR-9 releasing the other units before eventually terminating command following clean up.
