It was a beautiful Sunday morning on January 25, 2015 when some of the members headed out to our pump drafting site at Sanner’s Lake to put our new Engine 32 through its paces before placing it in service.

Under the watchful eye of Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute instructor Steve Wurtz; some of the old and new firefighters from both stations started out the morning bright and early to run the engine through the Bay District drafting acceptance procedure that was prepared by our Water Supply Officer Keith Fairfax. Now we know that Pierce does their own pump test but before we put it in service but we like to do our own. It also allows for new drivers and the old timers to become familiar with just how the new engine operates.

As expected there were no problems and the Fire Chief was notified about the results from the test. I assume that once the radio is installed and the drivers have the chance to drive the apparatus he will be placing it in service to serve our citizens of the 8th election district and the surrounding communities.

I’m sure that our Deputy Chief Steve Stockwell will put a more detailed report on here about the new engine as he has chaired the committee that made the purchase. I just wanted to give credit to the guys that came out for the pump test.
