The Bay District Volunteers 5th Annual Bridal Expo Is A Hit Again

On Sunday January 18, 2015 Bay District hosted the 5th annual bridal expo in our social hall at 46900 Shangri-La Drive in Lexington Park, Maryland. This has become one of our biggest events of the year and this was no exception. Under the supervision of our hall manager, Bob Braddock, there were over 33 vendors spread out in the hall. There were many different vendors from caters to travel agencies to limousine service.

Now, we had all the different vendors and I want to mention the real reason for the show was to allow all the beautiful brides to have a chance to see the latest and greatest in fashions. Now, when you have fashions you got to have ladies dressed in them so you can really tell just how they look on the brides to be. That’s where I and my camera come in and if you check out the picture section you will see what I mean. So many beautiful ladies and a few men for I guess for the other half of the couple.
The models walked around the hall in what they call a strolling fashion show to allow all of us an opportunity to see just how the gowns would look while walking down the aisle. Not only was this very nice but you could walk anywhere in the hall and visit with any of the vendors for information and samples. Now, I also liked the catering people who had samples of their food and the cake lady with a table. With their samples they were always busy and a nice touch while everyone was walking around getting all hungry and such.

Also for door prizes our hall manager Bob Braddock offered to any of the couples who signed a contract to use our social hall some kind of deal where they got place settings (I think that’s what he told me) for free. Not a bad deal because it’s not cheap if you have to pay for them. Also our Bob is always thinking of a way to keep our hall rented every week.

The show was from 11:30 to 3:00 with the grand prize drawing at 3:00. The grand prize was a beautiful wedding gown compliments of Bay District Volunteer Fire Department from Today’s Bride with a value up to $1,000.00. Now the bride to be had to be present to win so you can imagine all the pretty ladies stayed around till the drawing.

Well you can only have one winner and this year that was Christina Bassett from Bob didn’t remember so it really doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters was she was one happy lady.

So for all you guys and gals out there that might be thinking about taking the plunge next year keep an eye out for our 6th annual Southern Maryland Bridal Expo 2016 and plan to attend. I don’t think you will be sorry if you do.

Many thanks to our Treasurer Bruce Theden and Associate Co-Chairman Jeff McLane for taking all the fine pictures of the event.
