One more Saturday and we were going to be done for this year with running pump tests on our Class A equipment. It was another beautiful day and after a good breakfast at our favorite café “Linda’s” we loaded up on Engine 33 and Engine 91 to head out to Sanner’s Sportsman’s Club where for many years Eddie Sanner has allowed us to use one of the ponds to conduct the test. Now, I can tell you how much this is appreciated because for many years we had to go down on the Naval Air Station and draft off the seawall. This was okay but it did put us a distance from our first due area and running salt water through the pumps was not the best. Not to say that we didn’t appreciate the government for allowing us the use of their facilities because we did.

So when we arrived down at the pond the crew under the direction of Deputy Chief 3 Fuhrman already had Engine 33 hooked up and pumping. His crew didn’t want breakfast and just wanted to get done as Chief Fuhrman had a class to teach at noon. It felt good to know that Engine 33 was going to be taken care of so all we had to do was Engine 91. Both passed with flying colors and our water supply officer Fairfax was pleased with that.

Now I know that this story isn’t about much but it has been kind of slow around the stations so it’s the best I can do till maybe when cold weather gets here and calls start to pick up. I guess I could have put this story with the other one but I have new pictures of some who were not there last week and I want to make sure that we give them some recognition for all they do. So you see it’s not about just riding up and down the road on a fire truck but in addition to calls there are drills, hose testing, pump testing, and let’s not forget clean up around the station and the apparatus.
