On May 2, 2014 at approximately 1150 hours, crews from Company 9, Squad 7, Company 83, Station 38, Station 39, and EMS 83 were alerted to a Motor Vehicle Collision on Myrtle Point Road just in from Patuxent Blvd. Fire Chief 3 R. Wahrenbrock arrived on scene first, advising one vehicle into a tree, with entrapment. Engine 91 arrived just minutes after Chief Wahrenbrock and immediately went to work with stabilizing the vehicle and securing the patient. Engineer M. Ryan deployed the 100' Bumper line for protection, Sgt's Yount and Thomas stabilized the vehicle while Lt. Marshall checked on the patient. As soon as that was completed, Engine 91's Crew under the direction of Lt. P. Marshall went right to work with hand tools and the Portable Holmatro Hydraulic Rescue tools. Crew from Engine 91 was able to remove both doors of the truck and move the B post out of the way to enable the removal of the patient, and after placing some Kevlar Fiber wrap over the sharp edges the patient was removed and placed in the Ambulance for further assessment.
