At 23:16 hours Station's 3,13,9,6 were alerted for the working apartment fire. Chief 3, Engine 31, & Engine 93 responded at dispatch. Moments later Truck 3 and Tower 9 responded. Chief 3 requested a extra engine and squad for RIT (Rapid Intervention Team). This brought Engine 73 & Squad 7. Engine 31 arrived to find a middle of the row two story apartment building with fire showing on the first floor. The crew from Engine 31 stretched the 400 ft attack line to the apartment. The driver from Engine 31 secured water supply with his own hydrant and assisted the crew with flaking out the attack line. Truck 3 arrived and preformed the primary search with negative results. Engine 132 pulled their 300 foot attack line for backup and Engine 93 pulled the 200 foot line off Engine 31 and added the standpipe rack to extend it to 300 feet and took it to the second floor. The driver and tillerman from Truck 3 both went to the roof and cut a 3’X 3’ ventilation hole. The fire was reported out at 23:29 hours. Safety 3A performed the secondary search with negative results. Crews preformed overhaul in the fire apartment as well as the apartment above and next door. No extension was found anywhere. Units were able to clear the scene at 00:49 hours. Engine 44 filled in for Station 3 during the fire.
