While working around the station cleaning up after a working fire in Hollywood (Co7) the tones dropped for a commercial building fire at 21263 Joe Baker Court Apt. 2a for a reported furnace fire with subject trapped. Well let me tell you had better move fast when a call like this comes in or you will be waving good-by as the equipment pulls out of the station.
Engine 31 marked up right away followed by everything else soon after. While responding Safety 3 (W. Johnson) arrived on the scene before any apparatus and gave a size up. Engine 31 took the plug right in front of the apartment building and pulled a line to the building.
Safety Officer Johnson and Firefighter T. Blazer who live very close by assisted the elderly lady from her residence which had filled with smoke from a malfunctioning furnace. With the fire out on arrival units used the fans to remove the smoke from the apartment. Emergency Medical Personnel from the Lexington Park Rescue Squad assisted the home owner to ensure that she was o.k. Fire Chief Robert Wahrenbrock held the command.

Just another day around the station. You never know what might come up next so you have to be prepared for anything.
