It was November 30, 2013 and it was time for our Associates to have their annual Winter Wonderland at Station 3. This has become one of the biggest events that they put on and it’s always fun for all who make it happen. As 5:30 p.m. rolled around people were already lining up on the ramp of the firehouse to come in. We had it set-up so nice and you could just see it in the eyes of the little one’s as they came in the door.
I can’t say just which event the kids enjoyed the most but there was plenty to go around for all. Again the fire truck rides were a big hit and there were lines waiting all night. It was a good thing that we had some of our brother department’s join us with apparatus to share the joy. We had Leonardtown and the guys from the Seventh District bring a truck and we very much appreciate their help. Seems that other departments also have a tree lighting and we always try and assist them with a truck and crew.
As the time drew near for jolly old St. Nick to arrive everyone made their way out to surround the tree.
Off in the distance you could hear not sleigh bells but sirens on his sled and around the corner he came with lights blazing and horns blowing while he rode up on top of Truck 3. Man the looks on all the kids faces was priceless. Well Santa made his way up to the tree and in the blink of an eye he said the magic word and the lights on the tree came to life much to the amazement of all the children. So then it was back to the festivities in the firehouse with plenty of Christmas music to put everyone in the spirit of the Holidays.
So after 3 hours of Ho-Ho-Ho we were all beat and ready to head home to await our next project on Christmas Eve of visiting the good folks down at the Chesapeake Shores Nursing Home. This one we all look forward to.
