Crews Catch Another Car Accident Near The Thomas Johnson Bridge

On the night of May 02, 2011 at approximately 10:55pm Crews from Company 9, Company 3, Company 7, Company 1, and Solomon's Company 3 were dispatched to a car accident with heavy entrapment. Located at the base of the Thomas Johnson Bridge. Engine 92 arrived on location and found that there were three patients trapped in the one car that was involved. The crew quickly stabilized and secured the car and started to extricate the patients out of the car. Chief 3B and Chief 3A arrived on location Chief 3A took the command and Chief 3B took the extrication division. Squad 3 arrived on location and assisted Engine 92's crew with extrication of the car. Some of the crew assisted with patient care in making sure that the patients injuries were attended to. Shortly after Squad 7 arrived on location and assisted the crews in getting the patients out and en route to the hospital or helicopter.

About 1/2 mile away from the car that the crews were working on there was a second vehicle that was involved in the same incident. Lieutenant 9 and Rescue 83 took over operation on the SUV. There was no entrapment on that vehicle. There were a two patients transported priority 3 to St Mary's Hospital.
Everyone worked very well together in getting the patients out quickly and as safely as possible.
