Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding.....Come and Get It.....Smell that Bacon Cooking....

By Public Information Officer Douglas Medley
March 7, 2010

Well as the members of Bay District look forward to the end of winter and the beginning of spring what other way to welcome the beautiful day we had on Sunday than our Associates putting on another one of their famous breakfasts. From the comments that I receive as kind of the unofficial welcome wagon everyone who stops by tells me that they always mark their calendars to make sure that don't miss it. You can tell by the same familiar faces that our community and friends from other communities stop by to enjoy a great meal with their families and see old friends from the last time we had one. I truly enjoy making the rounds with a coffee pot from table to table to make sure that everyone feels right at home.
Our Associates under the leadership of Chairperson Melissa Gould have this down to a science and things go like clockwork in the kitchen and on the floor. These ladies and a few gents have a great time working the kitchen and serving everyone that stops by with a big smile on their faces and a hug for anyone that wants one. They do a great job of making sure that the food is hot and plenty of it plus they always have some door prizes to raffle off along with a 50/50 raffle which a certain judge of the Orphans Court has won I think more than once. We also get to see many of our fellow firefighters from other companies around the county who support us every time we have something like the breakfasts. We in turn return the favor when their ladies do the same as it should be.

I'm sure that some of you have seen the same faces every time I do a story on the breakfast but hey that's o.k. they work darn hard for two days making it happen and the least I can do for them is to show you their smiling faces and who they are so when you see them out in our community if you would give them a pat on the back for all that they do to support their firefighters. I might add that these same guys and gals come out on our drill nights and when we have a large fire to provide for the firefighters. Many during the snow storms slept in the firehouses to make sure that they were there when needed. Some are trained medical people who respond to the many medical calls that we run during snow storms and if they don't do that when we get back they always have a hot pot of coffee or hot chocolate waiting for you.

I know what some of you might be thinking but no they can't vote on election night. If they could I would be the President or Chief. LOL
