Great Mills Road Entrapment
By Assistant Chief Jeff Evans
March 2, 2010
On March 2, 2010 at 1946 hours the Lexington Park EMS traveled across a Head On Accident in front of St. Mary's Square and advised it was property damage only. Engine 32 also arrived a short time later and advised that there were injuries and to start the assignment. Squad 3, another ambulance and the Medic Unit were then added to the call. Once all units were on the scene Chief 3B (Pennington) established the "Great Mills Road Command" and advised there would be a need for extrication. Engine 32 pulled the protection line, secured power to the vehicles and stabilized the vehicle needing extrication. Squad 3 setup for extrication and the crews took the driver's door and the roof off the vehicle. All extrication was completed within 15 minutes and the patients were loaded into the ambulance. Ambulance 388 and Ambulance 398 took both patients to SMH and Command was later terminated. All units were back in quarters at 2020 Hours.
