On February 1, 2010 @ 1525 hours, Bay District Volunteers were dispatched to the area of Rent A Center in St. Mary's Square for an odor of gas. Engine 32 and Squad 3 responded within two minutes with 8 personnel. Engine 32 arrived under the direction of Sgt. Mahaffey to Side A/B of the Shopping Center establishing their own water Supply. The crew from Engine 32 investigated the area and observed an odor coming from the rear of the Structure. Command requested an upgrade on the assignment bringing Co-13 (4 personnel), Company 9 (4 personnel), Tower 9 (4 personnel), and Ambulance 399 on the call. Units staged to the center of the shopping center with the exception of Tower 9 who was requested by Command to ladder the roof to side A of the building. After further investigation units returned to service at 15:51 hours.
