Working House Fire in California

On January 28, 2010 at 18:23 hours units from Company 9, Company 7, Company 3, Company 5, Company 39 and Company 79 were dispatched to 23270 Three Notch Road for the reported House Fire. Engine 92 (Sgt. Iagnemmo), Engine 32 (Sgt. Mahaffey), Truck 3 (Chief 3A), Tower 9 (FF. D. Culbert), Engine 33 (Chief 3B), Engine 91 and Chief 3 (Gould) all marked up seconds after dispatch with a total staffing of 30 volunteers. At 1828 hours Engine 92 arrived on scene and laid a 3 inch supply line at the intersection of 235 and gave a size up of a 2-story single family home with Smoke Showing. Engine 92's crew then pulled a 200 foot attack line and found the fire to be in the kitchen and downstairs bathroom of the residence. Chief 3 then arrived on scene at 1830 hours and established the "Three Notch Command". Engine 72 arrived on scene and supplied Engine 92 with water while there crew pulled a backup line for the interior attack crew and assisted in hitting hot spots. Engine 32, Truck 3 and Tower 9 arrived on scene seconds after Engine 72 and Engine 32 supplied Engine 72 and the Truck crew went inside opening up for the attack crew and performing searches of the residence. Tower 9 and Truck 3's chauffeurs threw multiple ground ladders and setup lighting and fans to the residence while their crews opened up windows and cut a vent hole above the fire room. The crews on the fireground worked well together and made quick work of the fire and checking for extension bringing the fire under control within 15 minutes of arrival. Operations advised command that the fire was out and the primary and secondary searches were complete with negative results and the assignment was then held with Engine 92, Engine 72, Engine 32, Truck 3 and Tower 9 as Command placed the fire under control at 18:37 hours. Crews worked for awhile longer performing some salvage and overhaul of the residence and once that was done crews began to pick up. Red cross was called to the scene to provide service to the occupants and their pets. All units were clear the scene at 1950 hours and returned to quarters a short time after.
