Volunteers Work 1st Due Kitchen Fire

On June 19, 2007 at 0117 hours the Bay District Volunteers were alerted for the reported kitchen fire in a residence at 22128 Towey Court. Engine 92 (FF. Hare), Engine 32 (FF. Winners), Tower 9 (Sgt. Warren), Truck 3 (Lt. Carroll) and Squad 3 (Sgt. Stockwell) all responded with a total of 17 volunteers. Engine 92 arrived on the scene and advised of a single story, single family dwelling with light smoke showing and asked for an upgraded assignment. Engine 92 laid in a supply line from the hydrant and instructed Engine 32 to pick it up. The upgraded assignment was dispatched bringing Engine 73 and Squad 7 with a total of 9 volunteers along with Water Supply 5. Engine 92's crew joined shortly by Engine 32's crew advanced a 1.75 line into the front door and found a kitchen fire with extension into the attic. The crews from Tower 9, Truck 3 and Squad 3 split up throwing ground ladders to Sides "A" and "C", cutting a vent hole in the roof above the fire room and doing the primary and secondary searches. The chauffeurs from Truck 3 and Tower 9 worked setting up ground lighting to the front and rear and also setting up fans at the front door. The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes of dispatch and command advised holding all units. Captain 9 held the "Towey Court" Command and Chief 3A Held the operations. All units cleared the fire ground in just under 2 hours.
Engine 63 handled a Fill In at Station 3 during this incident.
