Volunteers To Pedestrian Struck

On 12/05/2006 at 2211 hours the Volunteers from Bay District Stations 3 and 9 were alerted to the reported pedestrian struck in-front of Sheetz in California at 22712 Three Notch Road. Command 3(Capt. Evans), Engine 92(Chief 3A Smiley), Squad 3(FF. Jones) and Chief 9B(Rudy Jones) responded within seconds of the call and Engine 92 and Command 3 arrived on the scene at the same time within a minute of the dispatch to find a subject laying in the roadway. Crews started assessing the patient and determined to go ahead and start the helicopter for a med-evac. Crews assisted in patient care and packaging of the patient. Once the patient was loaded in the ambulance the patient was transported to the landing zone at Station 9 where Engine 91(Lt Vallandingham)/Command 9 (Jones) had established the LZ Priority one with a airway compromise. The paramedics from Medic 1 and the Flight medics stabilized the patient before transport to Baltimore shock trauma. Engine 92 and Squad 3 remained on the scene for 2 hours assisting the SMCSO with the reconstruction. At the time of the story the Patient is listed in Critical Condition at the hospital.
