By Fire Lieutenant Daniel Martin
January 28, 2016

On Saturday 01/23 at 5:17 pm while Winter Storm Jonas was in full swing in the Southern Maryland region, Communications alerted Companies 6, 3, 9, NAS 13 and 1 to the 17000 block of Piney Point Rd for the House. Engine 61 was first arriving finding a 1 story residence with fire showing on the alpha side of the residence. Tanker 33 (SGT Sewell) was next arriving stretching a second line into the residence and assisted 61's crew with extinguishing the fire on the first floor and the attic space. Chief 6 quickly scaled the assignment back to Engine 61 and Tanker 33. Units operated on scene for 1 hour before returning to quarters.

On 1/26 at 10:33 Communications alerted Companies 6, 3, 9, NAS13 and 1 to the 44000 block of Shore Drive for the House. Engine 61 arrived on scene finding a 1 story residence with fire showing from an attached garage. Engine 61 and Tanker 33 (Lt Martin) stretched 2 1.75 handlines into the structure finding fire in the kitchen and attic area along with the garage and extinguished the same. Units operated on scene a little over 2 1/2 hours assisting the Maryland State Fire Marshall. Chief 6A Held the Shore Drive Command.
